Shipper helped with replacing damaged element, no questions asked. These heaters are sleek and designed extremely well. We LOVE Bromic! Thank you!!
Well, what would you expect from a 6000w heater? Two 3000w elements throw down quite a bit of infrared. I wouldn't expect to use these for more than maybe 10 feet max and in my outdoor gazebo this has worked well. It's wired to two 30A switches so I can control the elements individually. I also installed a 240v 40A contactor relay prior to the switches that is controlled a 110v countdown timer so the kids don't leave the heater on overnight - which they already had!! You could also wire in a wifi switch instead of the countdown timer to operate this remotely. BTW - this is a MUCH cheaper control approach instead of the the timer switches sold by heater dealers. The Bromic heater is very well made, really nice finish and looks cool. It gives off a pretty good glow at night when the lights are off, but nothing offensive in my opinion. If you're handy with electrical stuff this is a pretty easy install. The only thing I found annoying was the tiny box that houses the 4 hefty element wires (two 10ga stranded wires for each element). It is too small to put wire nuts on if you plan to operate the elements separately. An electrical buddy suggested screwing a handy box on top of the tiny Bromic box and doing the connections in there. Wiring is all 10ga on a 30a 240v breaker. I'd buy another one of these if the need ever arises.
The good: Looks nice, easy install, used single pole setup with a 30a on/off switch instead of an expensive dimmer. Good heat. My sitting area is 11x16 and the ceiling is 11ft tall. I can feel warmth on far side. The bad: Expensive for what it is. The instructions, which I used to determine its compatibility showed offset minimums that are not accurate. On initial install, the ceiling that is 14 inches above the heater reached 130 degrees in 10 min. I had to make a custom deflector to keep my pvc ceiling from melting. With the shield, the ceiling temp does not get above 90.
Overall this is an amazing heater - installation is straight forward, it performs well, and it doesn't look bad. I've paired the 4000w heater with the Bromic remote control unit - a great combination. Installation is super clean without visible wires and with very clean mounting hardware. Here are a few observations with the heater: 1. It takes about 30 seconds or so to start glowing (went turned on from cold). It then takes another several minutes to really start to generate heat - I recommend turning this on 15 min or so before you plan to be outside. 2. It doesn't generate quite as much heat as I was hoping (but my expectations might have been too high). Think of this heater as something that will "take the edge off" not necessarily "heat you up". If you are really looking to heat a space - you'll probably want more than one (and/or a bigger one). Note that if it's breezy - the heating is reduced a fair bit. Overall love it and very happy with the purchase and very grateful for the top notch customer support from Bromic.
Much better than the Infratech Radiant Heaters we tried. Used for outdoors, these work.
Gorgeous, so much better than bulky propane patio heaters. Can’t wait for cool weather!! Incredibly toasty trying it in the summer, LOL!
The electrician that wired our heaters, wired them incorrectly. I contacted Scott Comeaux at Bromic support and he got back to me in less than 5 minutes! I told him we were hosting 30 people for dinner and needed the heaters to function so I could use the outdoor space. He was able to walk me through the proper wiring set up over the phone and fixed the problem immediately! I'm not used to getting such a quick response from a company. Scott was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about their product. I highly recommend these if you have a screened in porch or covered patio. They really put out some heat!
Awesome heater. Plan to spend $1500 for installation but once in, it is exactly what you need.
I have a 250 square foot screened in porch. It is about the size of a two car garage. I have windows on three sides of the porch, with the fourth side joined to the house. In total, I have 20 screened-in windows on the three exposed size of the porch. These 20 windows are more or less floor-to-ceiling, with the ceiling being at about 10 ft tall. I cover these windows with vinyl on the outside of the house during the winter. I mounted two of these 4000 Watt heaters on opposing sides of the porch, high up on the walls just under the ceiling. These heaters work very well. It is currently about 30 degrees outside, and 68 degrees on the porch, the heaters have been running for about an hour and a half. Granted, we do not have a lot of cross-breeze through the porch in the winter, so the heaters have more of an opportunity to warm the air. But on average, in my case, it is safe to say that these heaters increase the temperature on the porch between 30 and 40 degrees, if they run long enough. There is a little bit of a new product heat smell when you use these for the first few days. But that goes away. I will also share that my electrician just used standard 240 volt switches in the walls, rather than all of the fancy bromic switches and controls that are available online. I had ordered the Bromic switches, but ultimately just sent them back for a refund, since they were unnecessarily fancy and really not needed. Apparently, there is a certain type of dimmer switch that can be used at 240 volts for these heaters. I may explore those. I can envision a scenario where the porch becomes too warm or hot during the winter with both heaters running at full thrust with no cross breeze.
Good looking and emits a tremendous amount of it. I like that you can direct the position of the heater (manually).
