Sit Proflame 2 IFC control module
Do You Also Need the R12270 Jumper?
Usually not — but check before you order. Connector X4 on this module is the main burner ON/OFF circuit, and it has to be a closed circuit for the burner to fire. That is done one of two ways: a small jumper wire (the Empire R12270 jumper wire) seated in the green 2-pin block, or an external wall switch wired to X4.
Before you remove your old module, look at the green 2-pin block plugged into X4:
- A small wire looping between the two terminals — that is the jumper. Unplug the block and move it to the new module. Nothing extra to buy.
- Two wires running off to a wall switch — your appliance uses a switch instead. Do not add a jumper; it would leave the main burner permanently enabled and the switch inoperative.
- No block, or a jumper that is missing, corroded, brittle or heat-damaged — add the Empire R12270 jumper wire to your order.
Worth knowing: the X4 block and jumper are a documented failure point. Heat and dirty contacts can cause an intermittent connection that drops the main burner once the fireplace warms up — the same symptom that leads people to replace the control module in the first place. If yours looks at all suspect, replace it while the unit is open.
