Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use tempered glass in a wood stove?
No — tempered glass is rated to ~600°F continuous. Wood stoves run 800-1,200°F+ inside the firebox. Always use ceramic glass (Robax or equivalent) rated for wood-stove temperatures. Using tempered glass in a wood stove is a fire hazard.
How do I measure for replacement glass?
Measure the visible glass area precisely (length x width) and the thickness with calipers. Tempered glass is typically 5/32" or 3/16" for gas fireplaces; ceramic glass is typically 4mm or 5mm for wood stoves. Order by your fireplace model number when possible for guaranteed fit.
