Buck Stove 26000, 27000 & 28000 Parts — Owner's Guide
The Buck Stove 26000 (Little Buck), 27000 (Regular Buck), and 28000 (Big Buck) are the classic wood stoves that built Buck Stove's reputation. Produced from the late 1970s into the 1980s, they were sold both as freestanding stoves and as fireplace inserts, and thousands of them are still heating homes today. All three models have been discontinued, but that doesn't mean your stove is at the end of its life — Fireplace Choice stocks replacement glass, blower motors, firedogs, and maintenance parts for these units, many of them factory parts made by Buck Stove in Spruce Pine, North Carolina.
If you bought a used Buck stove, inherited one with a house, or have been running yours for decades, this guide will help you identify your model and find the right replacement parts.
Which Buck Stove Model Do I Have?
The three classic models are sized small to large:
- Model 26000 — Little Buck: the compact stove in the series
- Model 27000 — Regular Buck: the mid-size and most common model
- Model 28000 — Big Buck: the largest of the three
The most reliable way to identify your model is the rating plate, which lists the model and serial number. If you can't find it, see our guide: I'm trying to locate my rating plate and serial number.
No rating plate? Buck Stove's own advice is to measure the rectangular stack opening on top of the unit:
- An opening of 13¾" x 3¼" means you have a Model 26000 (Little Buck) or Model 27000 (Regular Buck)
- An opening of 16" x 3¾" means you have a Model 28000 (Big Buck)
One more detail that matters when ordering glass: some units are marked 26000-C or 27000-C. Before buying a glass panel, check whether your door glass is a plain rectangle or has an arched (archtop) upper edge, and measure your existing glass — both shapes are available below.

Firedogs (Andirons)
Firedogs hold logs in place inside the firebox, keep them from rolling against the doors, and promote airflow under the fire. Each classic Buck model takes its own size:

Blower Motors
The blower is the part that fails most often on these stoves after decades of service. The classic models used two different 3-speed motors, and telling them apart is easy: look at the back of your old motor.

Looking for a Buck Stove 27000 for Sale?
Buck Stove no longer makes the 26000, 27000, or 28000, so there is no "new" one to buy — anything for sale today is a used stove. These units were built heavy and many are still worth owning, but inspect before you pay. On any used Little Buck, Regular Buck, or Big Buck, check:
- Glass: cracked or missing panels are common and replaceable — see the glass table above
- Blower: plug it in and run the blower on every speed; a dead motor is a normal repair (1MBS1 or 1MBS2 above)
- Doors and latches: doors should close tight and latch firmly
- Firebox: look for warped plates, burn-through, or heavy rust
- Rating plate: confirm the model number so you know which parts fit — and note that installers and insurers may have requirements for older, non-EPA-certified stoves, so check your local codes before installing one

Can I still get parts for the Buck Stove 27000?
Yes. Even though the Regular Buck 27000 is discontinued, we stock replacement glass, blower motors (1MBS1 and 1MBS2), firedogs, and other parts for it — see the tables above. Availability changes, so if a part shows as sold out, use the notify option on the product page or contact us.
What blower fits the Buck Stove 26000?
The Little Buck 26000 used two different 3-speed blower motors. Look at the back of your old motor: if you can see a small 3" fan blade on the rear, you need the 1MBS2 motor; if the rear blade is enclosed in a casing, you need the 1MBS1 motor. A Fasco single-speed blower is also available. Note that replacement motors do not include fan blades or gaskets — transfer yours over or order a new fan blade.
Where can I find Buck Stove 27000 glass doors?
We don't sell complete door assemblies for the 27000, but we do sell the door glass, which is what usually fails. The standard rectangular panel (PG RG6364) fits the 26000-C, 27000, and 28000; the archtop panel fits 26000-C and 27000-C doors with an arched top. Measure your existing glass before ordering.
How do I tell a 26000 from a 27000 or 28000?
Check the rating plate first. If it's missing, measure the rectangular stack opening on top: 13¾" x 3¼" means a 26000 or 27000, while 16" x 3¾" means a 28000 Big Buck. Firedog size is another clue — each model takes a different length (see the firedogs table above).
Is the Buck Stove 28000 still made?
No. The 26000, 27000, and 28000 series was discontinued decades ago. Buck Stove still manufactures wood stoves in the USA, and parts for the classic models remain available while supplies last.
