How to find the right replacement remote
Gas fireplace remotes are not universal. Each one talks to a receiver or control module made for one control system, so the part that fits is decided by the system inside your fireplace, not only by the fireplace brand. Three things tell you which one you have:
- The label on your remote. Take the battery cover off and look for a part number or code, for example SIT 0.584.040 on a Proflame 2 remote, G6R-H3T5 on a Mertik Maxitrol handset, or IFT-RC400 on an IntelliFire Touch remote.
- The receiver or control module. It usually sits behind the lower grille next to the gas valve. Its label names the system (SIT IFC, Mertik Maxitrol G6R, HHT IntelliFire, Skytech).
- The fireplace rating plate. It gives the brand and model number, which the maker's parts list ties to one remote.
Match the code, not the color or the shape: SIT Proflame 1 and Proflame 2 parts do not mix, and Mertik Maxitrol handsets must carry the same part number as the one they replace.
Systems the finder covers
- SIT Proflame 1 and Proflame 2 (Empire, Enviro, Kozy Heat, Mendota, Regency, Superior, Astria and many more): Proflame 2 troubleshooting and error codes
- Mertik Maxitrol GV60 (Empire, Valor, Hearthstone and others): GV60 troubleshooting and beep codes
- Hearth & Home Technologies IntelliFire, IntelliFire Plus and IntelliFire Touch (Heat & Glo, Heatilator, Quadra-Fire, Majestic, Monessen): IntelliFire troubleshooting
- Skytech and American Flame remotes and receivers: Skytech and AF-4000 troubleshooting
- Electric fireplaces (Dimplex, Modern Flames, SimpliFire, Amantii): the finder shows the maker's part number.
Every match in the finder comes from the fireplace or control maker's own manual or parts list. When we could not prove a match, the finder asks for a photo instead of guessing. Once the new remote arrives, see how to sync a fireplace remote, or browse all fireplace remote controls.
